The Ministry of Health is
the primary provider of health care for Iraq’s population of
more than 25 million people. This includes primary care services,
including community health, behavioral health, disease surveillance
and prevention, and maternal and child health services. Inpatient
care is provided at the 240 MOH hospitals across the country.
Specialized services include: emergency medical services, disaster
preparedness and response, the ambulance system, and services for
persons with disabilities. The MOH also provides care for inmates
and members of the New Iraqi Army.
